Sorry for opening a similar Feedback.
But can I ask please were "to raise my hand" to get selected for Microsft Windows 8 Beta program ?
One of the things that Microsoft Connect can Improve or Microsoft it self is to care about users who volunteer them-self to help with product improvements. Microsoft soon enough will release a Beta version of the Windows 8 and will be looking for testers. If it won't do it here on Microsoft connect it will be nice to provide information for the tester here on Microsoft Connect where we can keep track with this kind of info. And please don't say http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ because is not very specific.

I would like to again beta test Windows 8 like I did for Windows 7. I have influence over many users of Microsoft Windows that would take my suggestion to upgrade to Windows 8. I also would like to host another launch party as I did for Windows 7.

I'd like to "raise my hand" for the opportunity to be a Windows 8 beta tester. I've tested Microsoft products about 10 years ago and am about to build a fresh gaming oriented computer with an Intel light load CPU with the LGA 1155 socket. Light CPU, Strong RAM, Strong Video, Fast Storage. Please consider me as I'm working less and pounding keys more lately.... Excellent opportunity for lots of feedback from these keys! I'd be delighted to be chosen.

I have tested windows 8 consumer preview , i want to give my feed back .
i have always defended microsoft against linux but i am horrified after using
windows 8 ! where is my start button ?? why is it missing ? please put the
start button back .

windows 8 just feels like its designed for tablets not our laptops and desktops
if you remove the touch icons and go to desktop , it just looks like windows 7
with a missing start button.

I am disappointed by windows 8 , ill stick with 7 for now its better

1. About your Win 8 Os by my experiance:

     a).This is the complete operating system that includes
        Touch environments with best GuI effects.
     b).Bootup and shutdown are very fast and new concept of login gestures of mouse is
        fantastic and more smart.
     c).You design the start menu with more surprising concept .i like menu
        effects.When i run this os i am feel as like pc that have only glass that
        have no keyborad, no cpu or mouse.
     d).You add advance menu system for folder windows that is best.
     e).This operating system more and more compatitble every laptop hardware(i tried on acer and samsung laptop)
     f).I more empressed by internet explorer 10 it is best,Specialy transparancy and history and tab system url in bottom
         very inovative changement.
     g).Switching between windows with animation is so beautiful.And also minimize in slide stack reside the left or right of desktop is
         so cool.
     h). Your new media player (songs & vedio player with full screen mode) is very well and eye catcher.
     i).Almost every thing is best and it,s like a future operating system.



2.Recommanded Changement in your os:

     You know windows have cover 80% computer user in the world, mostly in india where computer education system
     is based on only windows operating system and they work on your operating system regularly,so they bored by
     using same os interface. Here these consumer required complete changement os interface with suppotive working
     software and harware.
                         here some point are mention that is required for your os:

         1.First thing Antivirus program(i have tried Quick heal),printer(samsung),Your Visual studio(require 3.5 .net frame) is not                         supported your system such like win 7.You well known that these software is basic and recommanded for every pc or laptop.
         if you not solve this bugs you loss the win 8 users.

        

     (Important)

         2.Second thing your windows os mainly based on perfect gui effects and representation and you full
         success to impress the consumer,but on place you leave the gui effects that lookup as old things that
         is folder windowsYou know mostly working of person based on folder system and Your folder view design
         is based on previous windows xp that is bored the look.
                                                     I suggest you you change the folder windows view like your start menu
     concept such like tab system and and folder icon like rectangle crystals that have same representation like start
     views in folder windows url for directory show in bottom of windows that auto hide properties and left pane that have
     link for hard disk or documents or desktop is seperated by silver thin line and pane also have auto hide property
     and for showing pane you design a transparent button.Folder windows back ground color set dark green. And folder icon
     color set= 'yellow silver mix" and size of icon as start tab.

         By this changement i guranteed your operating system purchase by Every computer user(mac,linux or unix)
     and It,s Provide best place of your company in top technology development world.

        3.On bootup screen change the 2d fish picture and replace by 3d windows logo image with shine and transparent.
    
        
     4. Your media player not support ".mkv", ".fly" extension media such like vlc player improve this.

     Actually, metro isn't a bad interface. It doesn't address some problems, like a better apps system that includes all the executables that are registered as programs. A direct link to installed game applications, especially windows games or equally recognized by the old games interface in windows, tied into a games window, from which you can access xbox live games. I'd like to see these changes and then go from there. These are the immediate issues that I've noticed. All my games are gone, replaced by xbox live games of nothingness. Also, I'd like to see a tweak to the app dismissal by grab and drag.    I find that the stop at the halfway point a bit stuttery, it should smoothly go to the bottom and dissappear. The screen that it stops at currently could be retooled as a task bar. Apps could be "minimized to that blank area," or dragged all the way to the bottom to close. Also, there should be an open apps link on the start menu. If you're going to make the start menu location be the place to get everything, then it should have everything.

I hope you guys at Microsoft are reading these comments.
My background: I have started working with computers at the age of 9, gone through every single OS and Windows version Microsoft has built from the mid 80s, have a Master's degree in computer science and work in online marketing. I was one of the early tablet PC users (HP 1100) when Apple hadn't even come up with the idea of an iPad.

Whereas I was absolutely blown away by Windows 7 (really!), I am more than underwhelmed by Windows 8 on a regular DESKTOP PC. The Metro interface is fine for those people working on a touch-based tablet PC, and it is clear that you want to move the interface experience towards tablets, thanks to Apple.

But it seems that you are forgetting the regular Desktop PC users over that. The golden rule of usability is NOT to make the user think. Apple achieved that, you tried and failed with Windows 8.

No regular Start menu anymore? Give me a break. I work with dozens of programs, so I do want to organize them in folders. I don't want to have the start menu fill my desktop full-screen, or have an "app" be maximized when I open it up. After all, it's called "WindowS" and not Window. Horizontal scrolling? Great for tablets, doesn't make sense for desktops, even if it works with the scroll wheel.

All of the things you did with Metro make sense for tablets, but they are the ultimate fail for desktop PCs.
More a matter of taste: Metro doesn't look as polished as Windows 7. The tiles could use color gradients, shadows, etc. to make them look like real physical objects/tiles. The way they are designed right now, they are too reduced for my taste.

My prediction: Whereas Windows 7 sold very quickly, Windows 8 in the current version won't be a blockbuster.

Make the user choose during setup what type of experience (desktop vs. tablet) he wants to have, and change the UI accordingly. With the UIs of desktops and tablets it's not "one size fits all".

i have a target i need to achieve it asap for my company KPI.
i need to get last MCITP certificate , i was preparing my self already for windows 7, but after download & use windows 8 consumer preview im so excited to achieve it.
so please once again it will help me so much, & im already use windows since Dos, even when i bough my Apple mac i install windows on it which is great experience.
Last i already achieve ITIL foundation last week, so please help me to get this certificate asap & im ready for whatever it takes.

I would like to particapate in testting windows 8 i currently develop for windowsphone and android, i would like to see what live tiles can do, theres must be alot off goodies, like the the synergy between handheld units and the desktop.

I allways want to be one step ahead and offcause give the feedback needed.

I'm a UI/UX designer and Flash developer in Malaysia and would like to sign up for BETA tester.
Never been a BETA tester before but would like to try to test Windows 8, because it is so attracting me!
Why choose me is because I'm specific more to user experience and will give more feedbacks to developer so that the apps for Windows 8 desktop or tablet version not suck like Windows XP era software/application. I would like to give Windows 8 a consistency looks in it's Metro style UI.

Currently I work as a computer tech at a Corporate Office. Testing the new Windows 8 Beta would be a great experiance to learn the new features and test out the older features on a new OS. Judging from what 'previews' ive seen so far, it looks to be great, now just need to test it out and learn for myself how great it is.

I would like to be considered because I need to upgrade my crap vista system. This is the worst Microsoft product ever and i do not see why i should have to pay for a new operating system to get away from this awful product.

Best part is when Windows 7 launched it was very successful. Microsoft made out is was because of their "brilliance" Truth is that Vista was so crap people needed to to get away from this product and XP does not support more than 3G of Ram.

And people posting on this site PLEASE stop grovelling,,,, you sound pathetic.

I love to test Mircosoft Beta. I have a ASUS Eee State. Which I use for work,personal, and school. One Note is amazing when talking notes with the digitized pen. Of course it could use some fine tuning. I would recommened adding for features for students taking math cources .

i have to say as a user of Windows since 3.1 i love every version of it finding the cool gui work arounds in every aspect of each operating system

I have tested the 3 latest releases of Windows (XP, vista and 7) and Windows 8 seems to be a bigger release than Windows 95, so I would like to test the Consumer Preview!!!!

I used the W7 beta extensively and found it useful for getting to grips with te platform as a whole prior to release and it being deployed by some of my customers. I will be looking to make recommendations to some of my clients in the futre in respect of Windows 8 and would find testing of the beta with office products and other LOB applications very useful prior to being asked to make suggestions and plan rollouts for client updates at my customer sites.
I am a senior project engineer for an out hosting company with a large portfolio of Private and Public sector clients.

Hello, I am Stanley, my name on this site is Lulu_Etech, a name I chose to reflect my name and say engineer. I would love to Beta test windows 8, because relatives in the tech field have done so, and while I have had the chance to test stuff in the past on previous accounts, I never got into it before. I tried to do it with vista but forgot about it, and really did not have time. I went through Xp/ then to windows 7, so I would love to be apart of the party and beta test for windows 8 on time, and be accurate. I would not mind if it is 32 bit or 64 bit, I do not know what would be well for my system. I build a lot of computers, and in this coming age intel has done it again, and made building remarkable, I hae never been so interesting in building computers in so long!    So I would love to test windows 8, so in the future I can test windows 9 and what ever comes out. I also will be working on servers in the future, so please let me beta test.

I would love to get in the beta for Windows 8. I have never done a beta for anything before and I always try to get in on them. I enjoy working on computers and fixing them for my family and friends and wouldn't mind getting a heads up on learning Windows 8 before it comes out. This way I will have a better understanding of the new Windows and be able to trouble shoot and help others on the program. I am a home computer hobbyist and i have built quite a few computers for myself and for family and friends. I enjoy trying out new software (including) new versions of windows. I would love the opportunity to beta test windows 8 and give Microsoft and its partners feed back. I do not LIVE on the computer, i do have a job and a life (lol) but i do spend right much free time trying out new software and programs and giving my opinion of them as a computer consumer and user. I am a specialist system builder of HTPC machines built around both Windows Media Centre and Windows Media Centre embedded. Over the 15 years i have been making thewswe machines, I have suceeded by thoroughly testing and developing these customised Microsoft platforms well ahead of my bigger competitors, and well ahead of any public release.
Windows 8 Dev Edn has not been of any use to me, as the multimedia and Media Centre components were not available.
I am extremely keen to get developing on my Win 8 based products, so please considfer me for any Beta program.

I have been testing out the Developer preview x64 bit edition and it has been pretty splendid for the most part- only except a few hangs here or there but quite stable indeed. I would really appreciate the chance to test out the Beta version seeing that I am a recent graduate of ITT-Tech in CNS and am currently acquiring my Bachelors in CIS with a specialization in System Integration; I could use the practice and I could really help out with the testing- could possibly suggest it to some of my fellow Alumni.

I work in environment that have multiple Operating Systems and i want to test Windows 8 with network with Linux OS and multiple Windows (95, XP, 7 and 2003 and 2008 Server)

I would like to test out the Windows 8 Beta because I've tested Windows 8 Developer Preview on my 3 year old PC and I want to find out if this machine would support the Beta, because I know it worked for Win8DP, but automatic assumptions isn't the way to go. I will give feedback for improvements and suggestions. Thanks!

After using Windows Developer Preview of windows 8 on three different computers (one is total touch enabled) the operating system was fantastic on all three machines, there are some minor glitches that I expect will be ironed out in the beta release.
Please consider myself when beta tesing for windows 8 goes out, I do think my information supplied would be constructive and worthwhile.

I would like to say that I was completely blown away when I first saw Windows 8. When it starts shipping on tablets I will definitely get one. I have never tested any Microsoft products before but I would LOVE to test the beta of Windows 8. As a student of Computer Engineering, I would like to join this revolution into the post PC era, and I think this is a good start.

Can anyone tell me does Microsoft even look at this page? I would LOVE to test windows 8, I have the preview and its absolutely wonderful!! Has not crashed on me yet! I am using FULL time right now! Printer working, Internet 30% faster than what I'm paying for! Just as responsive as XP on same system!?!?!? (Core2Duo2.8/4M/1066+2GB) Seems to be stable, however, I have found numerous bugs and would like to have someone to report them to! I can Install it on an any number of PHYSICAL systems, no virtual box here!

I am very Interested in using Windows 8 curently I have been doing reasearch on windows 8 for a paper due at the end of october for my CSNT class at LWIT (Lake Wa. Institute of Technology). It would be great to get a hands on experiance however if it is not availibe untill a latter date thats great too. The boot speed caught my attention right away after reading more about the other features I am really interested in trying it out, and comparing it to XP Pro,Vista Ultimate, and Windows 7 Pro. :)

Ive never tested before, but I would love to test 8 for the sole purpose of doing my part to be able to improve an OS that I so dearly love. I definatetly interested Windows 8. I beta tested Windows 7 ( I even through a Win 7 Party and got a copy of Ultimate) Anyway I'm a IT Director in a Private school and have been migrating all our systems to 7, integrating tablets into our school is a goal and would like to see how well a windows tablet would function with the desktops and smart boards. I have avoided the iPad like the plague, instead we have a number of Tosiba thrives. Thanks

I, as well, would like to plead for the opportunity to Beta Windows 8. As course of my testing I normally subject my installation to the most intense testing and system crash experts, my seven children. I install it, they break it. In the process we all learn vast amounts information on bugs, enhancements, support needs and hardware compatibility.

I want to deeply enroll in the windows 8 beta testing as for im trying to learn about operating systems and the inner workings of computers. I would love to be a beta tester. I am a full time student as well as a web designer and I have been using computers for the last 25- 30 years, starting with my first PC which was a 256 with 4mb! haha I have gone through Win.95, win98, WinME, Win7 and am very excited about the Win8 OS!!

It would be great to just ONE TIME be invited to beta test a new version of Windows. I mean, I've been signing up and asking for YEARS now and it seems they mostly only go for people with zero beta testing in their backgrounds (whether it be for MS or for games or for whatever).

Just one time would be nice.

Don't force experienced IT personnel invested in Windows technologies to go the 'torrent' route in propagating cracked versions of new Windows products in Beta format when you have the option of including us in the testing processes.

Microsoft,

Perhaps your missing a huge opportunity to avoid past gotcha's here. If you were a smart company, you'd stage this out better.

Many tech geeks like to review your products, even in beta. I think its a major mistake not to distribute to the beta testers with appropriate NDA's.

You could issue unique digitally signed media to each entity and hold our feet to the fire with specially assigned keys to keep people from leaking the images.

I think its a major mistake NOT to distribute to the "Connect Community" early, and the voices have spoken. Perhaps you should listen to your customer base. After all, we beta test for free and we deserve something in return besides the occasional thanks.

Let's see, on the security compliance beta I had seven out of seven recommendations added to change control... I guess that's worth something.

Digitally signed GPO's, that's my idea, among many other suggestions!

I would like to Beta Windows 8 - I work in a banking environment and this OS looks like one that we are looking to move toward. We are looking at the Surface Technology for our retail outlets and this looks to be a great fit on a wireless mobile tablet to work with customers.

I have a powerful Window 7 64-bit tablet (an ASUS EP-121, 4GB/60GB SSD/i5) that also has a Wacom drawing tablet built in. I would love to beta test Windows 8 and provide feedback to ensure that it is released with high quality and a great user experience.

Since those of experience Windows tablet users are much fewer in number I hope MS grabs every one of us who are willing to shake out Win8 - especially those of us that use touch and drawing heavily.

Loving Windows each release and spending hours and hours a day using it intensively, I feel to to be a good candidate. I have done beta testing for over two decades and am willing to spend hours a day testing and providing feedback; all hours of the day,morning and night. I would like to test Windows 8. I love the Windows Operating System and would love to see and test the new system. As a home user and as a mom I like to see the new changes and maybe offer suggestions as to what would make it more user friendly. I have six children that have 4 Xbox 360's, we have 5 laptops all running Windows 7 Ultimate, and three desktops running Windows 7 Ultimate as well.

As many here i was a beta tester for Windows 7 (and I'm now the owner of it) so i would like to be part of the beta testing for Windows 8 as well.
Specs of my Computer are as follow:
Phenom II X3 Black Edition (4th core unlocked by Motherboard) on a Asrock 890 Extreme 3
4gb OCZ DDR3 1600 (CL9)
Ati Radeon 5890 HD 1gb GDDR5 VaporX
Western Digital 1Tb (plus an ocz agility 2 250 Gb SSD i ordered that i will use for my Windows 7 install and eventually Windows 8)
Using a Philips 19 inch and a Sony Bravia 32 inch that i use as a monitor for everything that is not simple browsing)

I am really pumped to try the windows 8 OS. I just bought an ACER Iconia W500 tablet that runs Windows 7. It is over all the best windows tablet ever made. It is not perfect but as close as it can be running a windows platform that was never intended to be touch applicable. Windows 8 will definitly be an OS that is Made for the new wave of Tablets. I really hope I can test this out and give them feedback

I work in I.T. I find that being able to test the Betas keeps me up to speed for work, & also to use it to get familiar for certification exams. So I would love to be able to test windows 8, also since we are to VDI, it would be great to test windows 8 in a virtual environment.

My company will be migrating our enterprise to Windows 7 and Office 2010 later this year. I have been involved with the last Windows 7 beta testing but I did not receive an invitation to Windows 8. A bit disappointed in that.

I would love to beta test Windows 8. As a gamer I can provide feed back for current and backwards compatibility. I have several systems to run on from cutting edge to some more quaint machines.

Hi all,
It's great that you want to test windows 8. But please keep the comments here in line with my suggestion. I suggested that we get information to where we can "rise our hands" to sign up for Windows 8 beta testing and for a better communication of Microsoft with Connect testers.
If you are on board with this please tell Microsoft and Connect Web Site Improvement team what do you think about this. But don't "rise your hand" here for Windows 8 beta testing because I don't think that will be taken into account.

I would love to participate in this BETA. I do a lot of work with video and audio as well as some pretty intense gaming. I have a Major in computer engineering and a minor in Electrical engineering so I have high technical level of knowledge and I think I would provide very useful feedback.

Hello, I am Stanley, my name on this site is Lulu_Etech, a name I chose to reflect my name and say engineer. I would love to Beta test windows 8, because relatives in the tech field have done so, and while I have had the chance to test stuff in the past on previous accounts, I never got into it before. I tried to do it with vista but forgot about it, and really did not have time. I went through Xp/ then to windows 7, so I would love to be apart of the party and beta test for windows 8 on time, and be accurate. I would not mind if it is 32 bit or 64 bit, I do not know what would be well for my system. I build a lot of computers, and in this coming age intel has done it again, and made building remarkable, I hae never been so interesting in building computers in so long!    So I would love to test windows 8, so in the future I can test windows 9 and what ever comes out. I also will be working on servers in the future, so please let me beta test.

The only workaround I have is to Beta test!

Then I can provide any valuable feedback for any necessary work arounds in any issues that may arise for me.



I have beta tested every Microsoft operating system since Windows 98.

I also move on with the Release Candidates.

I provide valuable feedback in all scenarios when applicable.

I would love to be considered in the running for the Windows 8 download beta to test for Microsoft. I am currently enrolled to get my IT Programming degree and love technology. I have installed Windows 8 on one of my machines and have worked with it and would love to test out features and give feedback in the beta version. I am heading to Codemash next week where I will meet with developers from all over to talk about tech and I am sure Windows 8 will be among some conversations.

I really wanna try any tech beta version of windows 8 actually im testing the developer preview and I have some feedback but i dont now any channel to provide this feedback several years ago i was part of the beta program of windows 7 and if there any chance to try the new previus versions of windows 8 i really apreciate the chance.

I am very Interested in using Windows 8 curently I have been doing reasearch on windows 8 for a paper due at the end of october for my CSNT class at LWIT (Lake Wa. Institute of Technology). It would be great to get a hands on experiance however if it is not availibe untill a latter date thats great too. The boot speed caught my attention right away after reading more about the other features I am really interested in trying it out, and comparing it to XP Pro,Vista Ultimate, and Windows 7 Pro. I had Vista Ultimate a few months before it release, it would have been a better experince if some of the other manufacturers not to be named would have suported Microsoft sooner it was tough at first, but It is uptodate and running well on our main home PC.

I have tested the windows programs throughout the years and I want to have the opportunity to use window 8 first. Also is there going to be a prerelease discount program for beta testers like with windows 7? That would be very cool.
