Encoder Pro 4 SP2 4.0.4276.0 (The option was not available in the drop down below).

There are many unsolved posts in the community support site of issues with Expression Encoder 4 installed on computers with AMD Phenom II processors.

My particular issue is trying to edit Screen Captures. When I send the captured files from Encoder 4 screen capture to Encoder 4 Pro, the latter invariable crashes after reading the file.

The same behavior exists when I open Encoder, start a new project and try to import the .xesc file. This renders Encoder 4 completely unusable on Phenom II systems.

My PC Configuration:
Windows XP Pro SP3 - Latest patches applied
3GB of RAM
Processor AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
Graphics Card - Nvidia GeForce GTS 250

Repro Steps? (N/A for Suggestion)

Encoder Pro 4 SP2 4.0.4276.0 (The option was not available in the drop down below)

1. Open Encoder 4 screen capture, capture a sequence of events 25 fps, 5000 kbps, no audio or webcam, 1280 x 720 resolution.
2. Once captured, send the .xesc file to encoder using the capture manager feature in screen capture.
3. Encoder opens and starts reading the file. Once it is read, a pop-up window says that Encoder needs to close and the option to send the error report to Microsoft is given. I sent a few reports.

Alternatively,

1. Create the capture screen file the same way as above.
2. Open Encoder and create a new transcoding project.
3. Import a file (either through the menu or using Ctrl+I).
4. File reads, and then pop-up window appears indicating Encoder needs to close and giving the option to send error report to Microsoft.

We recently announced that we are discontinuing development of Expression Encoder. You can read the full announcement on our community page at http://msdn.microsoft.com/expression. Because this product is no longer in development, we are closing all outstanding bugs.
