The overlay color in Design View can be disturbing when I edit text and if the background is darker grey. I can not see the cursor so well anymore. It would be nice if I could edit this overlay colour.

We recently announced that we are discontinuing development of Expression Design. You can read the full announcement on our community page at http://msdn.microsoft.com/expression. Because this product is no longer in development, we are closing all outstanding bugs.
