I know this suggestion has been made in WEF but as IE8 is a seperate application to that area of feedback, I thought I would suggest this again in that IE8 should have an integrated download manager, I for one would rather have one application to manage the download and features to inclued the resuming of paused downloads, at this point in time if you download from IE, you have no way to pause and then resume it just ends. Allow user to queue up downloads for later.

Also to keep 3rd parties happy, for the inbuilt download manager to be able to be turned off or allow the user to use their favorite manager so that when a download link is clicked, the 3rd party DL manager captures the url and adds it to its download list.

As long as you keep it a basic download manager and have a way for 3rd parties to tap in and add or change functioanlity so there are no lawsuits.

Hi Typhoon

Exactly why I mentioned this at the end of the main post:

"Also to keep 3rd parties happy, for the inbuilt download manager to be able to be turned off or allow the user to use their favorite manager so that when a download link is clicked, the 3rd party DL manager captures the url and adds it to its download list."

This has been missing for to long time. People are requesting for this for years. Not only me, but every little-teched person. I don't see any reason why this download managers shouldn't happen in IE8. It was supposed to be added in Internet Explorer 7.

Thank you for your feedback.

We aren't really using the Technical Beta to collect feature requests. However, we will consider this feature request for a future release.

Best regards,

The IE Team

Mine +1 for basic functionality DL manager. Atleast pause/resume is needed in world full of 2+GB files and not fast/reliable lines everywhere.
