Workaround(s)
I would like to see a program added to IE8 or a future IE program whereby I can download the file or program from withing IE like the capabilities in Firefox instead of a third party tool like get right. The downloader tool can be an add or or a feature built in to IE that will make downloading more fun and enjoyable than to save to a folder or run from the website directly. This is something I would very much like to see added to IE

Review Status. Please select No.
The IE Team will update this status to Yes once we have reviewed this report.
Yes

1. Please verify that you are using Internet Explorer 8.
Yes, I am using Internet Explorer 8.

2. What is the goal you’re trying to accomplish?  You can put this in an “I want to…” statement or a statement about the end result (e.g., “Fill out online forms with no spelling errors”). If necessary, please include any URL’s.
I want to download programs or files from within IE rather than using a third party tool like getright and be one complete feature. This is something that firefox has that to me is a great feature.

3. Can you accomplish your goal in another way? If so, please describe the steps otherwise put “Cannot accomplish with IE8”.
Right not this can not be accomplished with IE8 since its not a feature built in.

4. What part of internet explorer are you working with when trying to accomplish your goal?
Other

5. What do you consider the priority of implementing this scenario?
0 = This scenario is high priority.

6. Why did you give this scenario the priority you did?
Since to be on the market today, one needs to be able to have the best of IE to the competitors like Firefox and this feature to me is essentional to my work and job. I wish not to use third party tools anymore but use one feature in one internet search and downloading program.

Yeah lot of people wish to see that on IE but I'm not sure if we'll ever see just a little improvment while downloading files...

It would be nice even if it was a seperate add-on to IE, but would work seamlessly with it instead.
Most Download managers either cost an arm and a leg (I refuse to pay $40 for something like that) and the free ones work well, but not perfectly.
Say IE added a new process when downloads started. We call it X. X will do the download and quit on completion. It act like a part of the OS it is running on so that it would not annoy the user.
Settings could be things like: Set focus to download when completed. Hide download grid when minimized/taken out of focus etc.
