The following page makes IE8 use 100% CPU and render the animations very slowly:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_roll

Tested with No Addons Mode, same results. I'm running IE8 from Windows 7 x64 RTM.

Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_roll and see the IE8 CPU usage in Task Manager. Also note that the animations are rendered slowly.

Should not use 100% CPU and render the animations fastly.

Is slow and uses 100% CPU.

Tested on IE 8 (8.0.7600.16385) under Windows 2008 R2, iexplore *32 - CPU usage 45-47%

Tested on IE8 on Windows 7 RTM x86. Firefox renders the gif's on the page with little cpu usage, 5%, while IE8 struggles taking up 50% cpu on my dual core machine. On a single core system, that would be 100% cpu.

I tested this on a Vista x64 computer running 32-bit IE8 with latest updates on a Quad Core processor and it instantly used up 25% of my processing power, or one of four processors.

this page was eating memroy usage skyrocketed over from about 27 meg to up over 100 megs. and took about 52% cup.

Vista SP 2 x86 4 gig of ram, core 2 duo 2.1 gig.

IE takes traditionally much more ressources for animated gifs.

I'm Running Win XP SP3, Machine Specs Are 4GB 1066 DDR2 RAM, AMD 9950 x4 CPU, J&W Performance Mobo 9500GT GPU
