Combination of filter: and :first-letter{ text-transform: uppercase; } freezes IE8/9 by christopher schirner

It looks like that the combination of 2 CSS can crash IE8 and 9.

Start with a simple gradient, so IE7/8/9 shows a gradient on our button:

.example {
    width: 100px;
    height: 40px;
    filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.gradient( startColorstr='#f8f5ed', endColorstr='#e8e5db',GradientType=0 );

now we want our first letter appear uppercase:

.example:first-letter {
text-transform: uppercase;

it now looks like the browser is locked in a redraw-loop...
