Description

Hello,

Trying to create web application pools that start with a "." (dot\period) using the New-WebAppPool cmdlet will fail with error.
I was able to create such web app pools using the IIS mmc.

PowerShell version 3.0
Windows server 2008 R2 ENT.
IIS 7.5.7600.16385

Error received:

New-WebAppPool : Parent node has no children of type appPool.

Parameter name: path

At line:1 char:1

+ New-WebAppPool -Name .NET

+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    + CategoryInfo         : InvalidArgument: (:) [New-WebAppPool], ArgumentException

    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : Parent node has no children of type appPool.
