Description

I see plenty of confusion about what DELETE dbo.Table; does compared to DROP TABLE dbo.Table; ... I think the context menu in Object Explorer perpetuates this confusion, since it says Delete instead of DROP. A lot of new users may assume that "deleting" a table from the context menu might be doing the same thing as DELETE dbo.Table; (though, admittedly, there will always be people who think DELETE does the same thing as DROP).

Hi Aaron,
Thank you for your suggestion regarding delete vs. drop. Changing this is likely to introduce more confusion to customers. I agree that a DBA will get it immediately, but developers using the tool could be just as confused seeing DROP. I'm closing this as by design.
Thank you,
Bill Ramos
