Description

ERROR. Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG))
(Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlTools.VSIntegration)

This error came when we try to open a table on a database stored on a SQL Server 2005 instance using SQL Server Management Studio 2005 after installing SQL Server 2008 (Katmai - CTP 5 November 2007) for testing purposes on the same machine.

Solution.

Rebuild SQL Server 2005 Registry running setup from the command prompt with the REINSTALL=ALL and REINSTALLMODE=omus parameters.

Please visit http://www.sqlcoffee.com/Troubleshooting010.htm for the solution step by step.

Alberto - we were able to perform the reproduction steps as described, using our latest build. I'll close this one and you can let me know if you're still seeing this.

Thanks! -
