Hi!

I recently upgraded my sharepoint development server running Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007 and Sql Server 2008 to Sql Server 2008 R2.
However, when creating new sites, I got the following error.
Sharepoint Upgrade Error: One or more types failed to load. I thought, Sharepoint must have discovered that I have upgraded to SQL Server R2 and would wanting me to re-run the sharepoint product and technologies wizard. On running this wizard, I got the same error during the stage where DB for sharepoint was being created : Sharepoint Upgrade Error: One or more types failed to load. Seems to be some problem with SQL Server R2 since it worked fine on SQL 2K8 RTM. Any pointers.

Experience the same issue with the final version of Office 2010 plus, and the recommended resolution to remove the office suite certainly fix the issue.

Was able to confirm - Office 2010 Technical Preview caused psconfig to fail with:

Thank you for the update. Good to know the Office Beta causes this issue with 2007, however.

Hi

I got this problem resolved. Actually, MSOffice 2010 was installed. I uninstalled everything and it worked fine.

We would first like to analyze 1) SQL Setup logs for the 2008 to 2008 R2 upgrade, and 2) the SQL Engine log(s) created when you start MOSS and receive the reported error. Can you please attach these?

ENGINE ERROR LOG(s):
…\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\...\MSSQL\LOG\ERRORLOG

SETUP ERROR LOG(s):
…\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\...\Setup Bootstrap\Log\...\Summary.txt
…\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\...\Setup Bootstrap\Log\...\Detail.txt

Thank You!

I have encountered the same problem.

Scenario:
MOSS 2007 X64 SP2
SQL 2008 X64
========================
Uninstalled SQL Server 2008 and Installed SQL Server 2005 X64 Express Edition, still no go.
