SSMS - dragging column names to query window doesn't add square brackets
3/24/2010 4:06:09 AM
User(s) can reproduce this bug
If i drag a column (or list of columns) which have spaces from SSMS Object explorer to a query window, the column names are not qualified/quoted with square brackets meaning. This gives syntax errors when running queries. This is particularly frustrating when dragging a column set to a window as you have to manually add the square brackets to each column.
SQL Server 2008 SP1
Tools (SSMS, Agent, Profiler, Migration, etc.)
Windows XP SP2 Professional
Operating System Language
Steps to Reproduce
Open SSMS and connect to object explorer.
Open a query window
Expand a database, table with columns which have spaces
On the columns node, point mouse and hold down the left mouse and drag the cursor to the query window.
Notice that the column is kept as its shown in the object explorer without square brackets.
eg Date Created
Column would be qualified with square brackets:
eg [Date Created]

Given this, I am going to resolve your issue as duplicate of the other issue. In case you have any question or comments then contact me directly at email@example.com
