Description

I know that we cannot restore a laster SQL version data to a previous SQL version, however, do we have any alternative method to do so like a conversion tool or SP3 etc...
I have downloaded 2008 SP2 and installed it on SQL server 2008 , but the result as same.
Error message called : "The database was backed up on a server running version 10.50.1600. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 10.00.2531. Either restore the database on a server that supports the backup, or use a backup that is compatible with this server."

I have tried to use script out all data method and run those scripts on SQL server 2008, however, it has some tables corrupted.
Any idea regarding this issue. Thanks.

Hi:

Thanks for contacting Microsoft. Your feedback is valuable. Your observation that we cannot restore a laster SQL version data to a previous SQL version, is correct. Your workaround seems to be a reasonable solution. We tried reproducing this scenario, but could not hit your issue.

It would be great if you could give us your sample database (which you say gets corrupted), and the exact repro steps that you carried out. This could help us in debugging this forward.

Thanks again for contacting Microsoft.
