One additional clarification. Windows XP is no longer in mainstream support (which ended 04/14/2009). It is in extended support only. Since XP is no longer in mainstream support and the OS technology is limited we will not be supporting Windows XP as a supported OS for SQL 11.

Hi,
I understand you concern and the platform support logic you mention, but Denali will not be supported on Windows XP.

Microsoft supports Windows XP until 2014. Most of our customers are using Windows XP. They won't use our software, if we try to force them to update their system.

Please support installation of Denali on Windows 2003, too. If a customer still uses Windows 2003 now (supported by Microsoft til 2015), there are very few reasons to upgrade to Windows 2008 now. He has to buy a new server licence, new client licences (CALs), and probably new hardware. Our customers are waiting for the next Windows Server system (?Windows 8 Server in 2012/13?). They will not upgrade because of the database.
This limitation will be a show stopper for us.
