Hi Microsoft,
I am getting same error. I removed previously installed SQL SERVER 2005 and tried to install Management server 2008 R2. Please let me know some workaround as I need SQL Server 2008 R2 for my college project. By the way I have Windows 7 Home premium & Visual Studio 2008.
Also I have Visual Studio 2008 because I have VC9.0 error when I was installing Visual Studio 2010 and I did not get any workaround for that either.
Thanks

Hello Martin,

The issue appears to be external to SQL Server. However, can you please attach the logs located under %programfiles%\microsoft sql server\100\setup bootstrap\log for us to see if there are any additional workaround possibilities?

Thanks,
Microsoft SQL Server

Hi - tried to install this patch but it gave me EXACTLY the same error as installing SQL Server 2008, same publicKeyToken - seems that this is a component of SQL Server 2008 R2....

How can I fix the installation of this assembly?

Thanks

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback. It appears that your ATL is corrupted. Please try to run the security update per below link and retry.
