Workaround(s)
Related to #543945: https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/543945

Adding an expression function that permits the counting of occurrences of a specific character or set of characters within a string would assist in string deconstruction efforts. FINDSTRING can currently fill some of the need for this, but only if the expected number of delimiters is known ahead of time.

Proposed Solution

TOKENCOUNT("01/12/2011", "/") or OCCURRENCES("01/12/2011", "/") would return 2.
TOKENCOUNT("01/12/2011", "-") or OCCURRENCES("01/12/2011", "-") would return 0.
