User(s) can reproduce this bug

I have a windows 7 64 bits computer, I have SQL server 2005 and 2008 developer edition installed on my computer, and also visual studio 2005 and 2010.

Everything is fine until this couple of weeks, when I start SQl server management studio I got "the application cannot start message". I fixed by reintall sql client tools. But this morning it happened again, this is the 5th time in this couple of weeks.

I don't what triggered it, twice happened when I use it after I come to office. But I cannot reproduce this, after I fixed I restart my computer, it works, so I'm really puzzled, and I don't want to the repair again and again.

Any ideas what happened, and the visual studio opens fine. Just sql server management studio cannot start. I also try to reinstall .netframe 4 , it did't fix the problem.

hey there

i recently just started getting this error.
I am on Windows 7, 64 bit, and have been using SSMS 2012 perfectly for a few months successfully.

today suddenly when i launched it i received the same error.

not sure if related, but in the last few days, Windows update has been trying to give me 2 updates for the .net framework 4 - and they have both failed.

any help appreciated!

Hi SPFriend
Thanks for contacting us. We have not been able to reproduce this issue on a clean machine. The devs are wondering if there may be an environmental issue. Can you confirm that you started with a clean machine? Are there other developer tools also installed?

After installation of Workstation tools of SQL 2012 RTM Evaluation, I got message "Appliaction cannot start" in previously installed
- SQL 2005 Server Management Studio SP4
- SQL 2012 Server Management Studio and
- MS Visual Studio 2010.
I managed to solve problem with VS2010 (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/vssetup/thread/59301331-d429-46c5-8b5b-f54280466c7c helped me), but I had no luck with SSMS 2005 and 2012. Complete reinstallation of SQL 2005 didn't help.
OS is win7 x64 sp1.
