Currently Power View only can access Tabular data models. The suggestion is to enable Power View to analyze Multidimensional data models from SQL Server Analysis Services.

It was just announced by Amir Netz at the PASS Summit 2012 in Seattle this morning that Microsoft will be supporting Power View on MOLAP models. Exact date TBD.

I really don’t understand what Microsoft is trying to do. It seems it is really confused on self-serving BI. I believe Microsoft should revisit ProClarity. Or make power view available like ProClarity. My company is losing customers since there is no good self-serving BI tool on top of very good SSAS.

Yes I am quite surprised to find that Power View cannot be used with multidimensional models.
