Description

I just took off my old sql express and loaded Sql Express 2008 r2. It completed successfully, and I can Run Management studio, but I can't "start sql server". All I want to do is upsize a database and connect to it from Access (do it all the time). However, I can't "start" the (local) sql server. In Mgmt studio -> Database Engine -> Local server Groups -> (local), I can right-click and see "service control" but the options (start, etc) are all grayed out.
What's up?? I'm sure this is a trivial thing but it sure is annoying me.
Can someone help me out?
Thanks,
Rob

This isn't a bug. Please use the MSDN forums for help: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlexpress/threads

Make sure that the service isn't disabled when looking at it in the service control panel.
