It will be nice if PDW can support Partitioned View.

Our application needs to store 90 days of data.
We recently moved away from Partitioned Table.
Instead, we use 90 tables (1 for each day).

At query time, it will be much better to have the benifits of the Paritioned View (on top of the 90 daily tables). When the user queries the View, the PDW Query engine would automatically limit the query to the subset of the tables.

Suggest add support of Paritioned View so at query time, PDW engine could automatically limit the query to the tables needed.

Also want to suggest the option to not verify the data when loading data into the underlying tables. With this option, PDW will fully trust that the application will load the data into the correct table.

Having said this, PDW V2 will not have partitioned views.

Hi Liang,

thanks for providing us feedback via CONNECT. As I understand, this CONNECT is tracking two suggestions (if I understand correctly):
(a) introduction of partitioned views in PDW and
(b) introduction of a loading option that can be optionally set by the user and disables the
    schema verification during loads

Regarding (a) - I'd like to better understand why you have chosen to 'avoid' using partitioned tables and have introduced 90 tables. As you know, using views always comes with a 'maintance cost'.
Regarding (b) - This is an interesting suggestion. We haven't heard from other customers so far; in fact verifying data before it lands into the compue nodes is crucial to ensure correctness of data according to the defined schema.

I'm suggesting that we synch-up at the next synch-up call (this coming Monday). I'd like to better understand both aspects.
