Please allow the results returned by any query or stored procedure to be saved to a new or existing table, either after the results have been generated or as a destination coded within the query. For multi-server queries from a central mangement server, please allow the destination table to be on the central mangement server.

I cannot begin to count the hours I have spent (wasted) trying to get the output of various ad-hoc queries and sp_help procedures into a persisted format. I find it hard to accept that I have to spend ANY time doing this - the SSMS tool has access to all of the meta information it would need to give me an option to save results to a new or existing table.

SELECT ... INTO can be used with a new or existing table, but only with single-server queries.

EXEC can be inserted to an existing table but only if the SP only returns one recordset.

Tools (SSMS, Agent, Profiler, Migration, etc.)

Provide a new SSMS save-as menu option.
Provide TSQL syntax to specify a destination table (or tables for multiple recordset results).
Support designating the table as being on a different instance than the instance the query is running on.
For Central Mangement Servers, support designating the table as being on the CMS instance and including the additional column(s) added by the multi-server collection logic.

Improved Administration

Save DBAs as great deal of time doing mundane tasks that distract them from their core responsibilities.

We took a look at this feature request and triaged it against several others and unfortunately, it did not meet the bar to be fixed. While we are closing this issue as 'won't fix', we have taken note of this internally and we will try & incorporate this request when we revisit this functionality in a future release of SSMS.
