Hi, when we perform a failover in a SQL2012 multisubnet cluster we always get the error message in the Windows Failover Cluster event log that the IP Address from Node A failed on Node B and vice versa:

"resource 'TCLUK1WSQA100_10.222.3.112' in clustered service or application 'TCLUK1WSQA100' failed."

Due to the Multisubnet Cluster it makes perfect sense that the IP from Network A cannot come online in Network B so why do we get an error message here? Is there a way to suppress the event logs as the monitoring should only alert in case of real errors.

Is it ok(supported) to take out the possible owners in the IP Address resource? (By Default both nodes are possible owners of each IP address. ) Problem here is that we get a bunch of warnings in the cluster debug log.

(BTW we use OR Dependency so the service and failover works well, its just the logging that should be improved.)

Thanks!

Steps to Reproduce

Create a Multisite Cluster and do the failover. Check Cluster Eventlog

Actual Results

"resource 'TCLUK1WSQA100_10.222.3.112' in clustered service or application 'TCLUK1WSQA100' failed."

Expected Results

no error should be reported as this is considered normal in a multisubnet cluster and the monitoring of our customers will send an alert based on cluster events.
