Description

In creating a complex Expression in Reporting Services, it is valuable to add comments at certain points in the expression if it is complex. However, if comments are added at any point, then it appears that ANYTHING that follows is disregarded, not just stuff that follows on the same line (between the comment character and the first CRLF)

For example, the following code
*********************
= ( 1 + 2 )
+ ( 4 + 8 )
**********************
will correctly evaluate to 15.

But the following will not evaluate properly:
**********************
= ( 1 + 2 )
'add more numbers below
+ ( 4 + 8 )
**********************
In fact, it evaluates to 2, indicating that anthing AFTER the commented line is discarded, even though it is separated by a CRLF.

Hello,
Thank you for submitting this feedback. After carefully evaluating all of the bugs in our pipeline, we are closing bugs that we will not fix in the current or future versions of SQL Server. The reasons for closing these bugs are following:
1.     The fix is risky to implement in the current version of the product (service packs)
2.     Scenarios reported in the bug are not common enough
3.     A viable workaround is available
Thanks again for reporting the product issue and continued support in improving our product.
