Description

In SSMS for SQL Server 2008 and also in normal Visual Studio if you are on the last line then pressing Ctrl +c, Ctrl +v would copy the line and paste to a new line.

In SSMS for SQL Server 2012 powered by Visual Studio, the Ctrl +c, Ctrl +v will copy to a new line so long as you are not on the last line. However when you are on the last line, it will paste to the end of the line, which is inconsistent and awkward, often resulting in a syntax error. Also awkward if you want to copy the line multiple times.

Hello Steve. Thank you for raising this concern with us. The behavior you are observing is a result of a change in behavior in the VS2010 shell, off of which SSMS is based, and so we will be closing this as “By Design”. This behavior has been addressed and documented for this particular release of VS here: https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/533237/copy-and-paste-of-line-at-end-of-file-does-not-auto-insert-carriage-return-if-needed Don't hesitate to let us know if we in SSMS can do anything more for you. -Walter A Jokiel, Program Manager, SQL Server (wajokiel@microsoft.com)
