Description

ie as per the recently introduced feature in SQL Server 2012 SP1 CU2 onwards that allows you to backup to Azure Storage http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj919148.aspx

It would be really useful to be able to do this as well from Windows Azure SQL Database , as the backup solution of Creating Copy of DB / do Bacpac is far from ideal , and actually costs more money as creating a 2nd DB is charged for a full day I believe

Ideally would like to be able to schedule as per Bacpac , but would also would like to have a retention policy where u can do what seems to be a de-facto industry standard (er at least in UK Banking / Finance), ie :

8 dailys
5 weeklys
Monthlys with a chooseable expiry period (ie x months)

I've code this against blob storage easy enough in powershell , but it would be easier to have it available in the Portal as obviously you need somewhere to run the Powershell from (ie a vm / task scheduled)

Thank you very much for your suggestion!
Can you highlight what type of backup / restore capabilities you are looking for -- can you describe how you would use the feature?
What is the retention time you need?
