Description

When attempting to enable Change Data Capture (CDC) for a table, I receive the following error:
Msg 22832, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_cdc_enable_table_internal, Line 623

Apparently, this was a known issue in v2008. I tried the work around specified in https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/387050/change-data-capture-sys-sp-cdc-enable-db-not-creating-cdc-system-tables-properly but it didn't help.

I had to work with MS support to get this resolved. The problem was caused by an update to the .net framework on the server. The server needed be rebooted to complete the update.

After rebooting the server I was able to successfully enable CDC on the table. A very simple solution.

I hope this helps some else that experiences the same problem.
