Description

SQL Server Analysis Services running in multidimensional mode should throw an exception or report an error when a datatype overflow occurs.

Hi Sam,

We have checked your suggestion, and unfortunately have to reject it. The reason is that adding overflow checks will substantially affect performance of aggregations. In order to mitigate the overflow issue we suggest you to change your data type to BigInt. With BigInt you can also hit the same issue, but very unlikely.

Be careful with aggregate datatypes
