User(s) can reproduce this bug


encountered an issue with replication on JANA after upgrade. The replication log reader agent for database PANSALES is failing with these error:

2008-04-17 06:28:42.53 spid86     Error: 5243, Severity: 22, State: 4.
2008-04-17 06:28:42.53 spid86     An inconsistency was detected during an internal operation. Please contact technical support.
2008-04-17 06:28:42.55 spid85     Error: 14151, Severity: 18, State: 1.
2008-04-17 06:28:42.55 spid85     Replication-Replication Transaction-Log Reader Subsystem: agent JANA-PanSales-1 failed. The process could not execute 'sp_replcmds' on 'JANA'.

Ensure customer knows run logreader until it processes all pending logs before upgrade – or do it for them

Will add documentation for this in next release.

Thanks for letting us know, we will make sure this requirement (drain log before upgrade) is reflected in BOL.

It is required to drain the log before upgrade, We are trying to make this a rule in the upgrade advisor to mitigate chances of other customers running into the issue.
