I have Windows XP SP2 installed on an IBM T30 Laptop.
All windows components are uptodate except media player 10.

I have Visual Studio 6 installed
I have Visual Studio .NET 2003 installed
I have MSDN Library installed
I have other Office products installed.

When I try to install Whidbey I get the following error at the very end of the Visual Studio Setup process:

And what are we to do when encountering this issue on Windows 7, where SYSTEM will not allow even a user with Administrative elevation to rename files in the GAC?

This is known issue when installing multiple interim releases. Please go to %windir%\WinSxS and rename each *vc80* file to a different name. Then re-run setup.
