Hi Agamnetzar,

After further review and discussions with globalization experts, we revisited this bug and just checked in a fix for it today. I'm re-resolving it as Fixed, and you should see the 'Auto-detect UTF-8 encoding without signature' option working correctly in VS 2010 RTM.

Thanks again for your feedback,
Brittany

Hi Agamnentzar,

Thank you for reporting this issue. Due to a tight schedule we unfortunately don't have time to fix everything for VS 2010 RTM, so I'm resolving this bug as Won't Fix for the current release. However, it will remain in our database to be revisited for a future version of Visual Studio.

Thanks for trying VS 2010 Beta2 and sending your feedback.

The option 'Auto-detect UTF-8 without signature' was turned on, i checked it when i saw the problem.
When i was checking it now i realized that it does not apply to .txt files, from files that i checked the bug applies to .html and .aspx files.
I attached html file that was saved with UTF-8 encoding without signature that should contain "aaaałóśćzzzz" string.
This file works correctly in Visual Studio 2008 and Notepad but in Visual Studio 2010 Beta2 is read as "aaaałóśćzzzz"

Hello

Thanks for your feedback. But we could not repro in our lab. Could you please try again with 'Auto-detect UTF-8 without signature' option checked in Tools\Options\Text Editor\General? If this issue still occurring, please provide us a file that can be used to repro this issue?

Thanks,
Kylin.Ming
