Description

VB .NET projects have in their project properties a "References" tab. This tab includes some genius features:

1) Remove Unused References
2) Show all used namespaces
3) Show all used references with Copy Local and Path settings in one table. In C# projects you have to click on every reference and then you need to open the property view.

I would like to see these great features for C# projects too.

You can try free VS2010 extension: Reference Assistant by Lardite group. It works perfect for me. This tool helps to find unused references and allows to choose what references should be removed.

Since Microsoft said " this is a good idea. Since we can't make this sort of change in the current product at this time, I'm adding this to our list for a next release." The status of this issue doesn't really reflect the positiveness that Microsoft will address this in future release. "Won't Fix" resolution status sounds like slamming door shut as no. Can you use something better like "Will Fix Next Release" or "Added to Next Release Feature List" status for issues?

Sorry, not sure where to make this meta recommendation for issues/bugs for Microsoft Connect. Feel free to re-submit on my behalf or at least point me in right direction of where to report that..

VS 2010 didn't come out 'till almost mid 2010...you mean to tell us you couldn't just steal the code from the VB.NET guys!? :)

Any chances this gets into an extension such as Productivity Power Tools "Searchable Add Reference Dialog"? or partially for PowerCommands for Visual Studio 2010, you know: right click -> remove unused references.

... oh, sorry this suggestion is closed, is there a connect for extensions?
... somebody reads this?

This is an excellent house-cleaning tool for VB.NET, add my vote for a future release.

Hi, jbe2255, this is a good idea. Since we can't make this sort of change in the current product at this time, I'm adding this to our list for a next release.

Thanks,
Bill
