Workaround(s)
Silverlight Polling Duplex channel is not very effective
http://ajax.sys-con.com/node/1022582

Duplex services for silverlight do not support many concurrent connections. The duplex services are implemented using a polling technique, so the server must have a connection open for each client until he closes his browser.

There is a build in limit of 10 connections, which can be increased but the server and network load will be hight.

If a new implementation of duplex services that use the HTML 5 web sockets is possible, then it could solve the problem.

Version Currently Used

Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2

Operating System Currently Used

Windows 7

Suggestion

An implementation of duplex services that uses HTTP 5 Web Sockets (http://dev.w3.org/html5/websockets/) would increase the maximum number of clients that a server can support, scalability and overall performance.

It may not be supported on all browsers yet, but it will be supported in most browser when Visual Studio 2010 is out.
