Description

I installed visual c# express 2010 and every time i open it i get "invalid license data. Reinstall required" ive tried removing registry keys from previous installs and still same error time after time. i had visual c# express 2008 installed and when opening that and creating a new project it says "invalid registry manifest" so not sure if it has anything to do with my system or not. Running Windows 7 ultimate (x64)

ran DDConfigCA.exe

Hi Josh,

The symptom as you've described it indicates licenses are not installed, so there are no reg keys to delete. A full uninstall and a reinstall should fix the issue.

We can offer the most assistance if you install one of our Release Candidate versions of the product. Instructions for installing a release candidate product can be found here: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=151797
(Note that Express products are not available with the RC.)

If you are still seeing the issue after a full uninstall/reinstall, please run the DDConfigCA tool again, and attach the output. This will help us figure out a next step for this investigation.

I know issues requiring a setup of the product can be incredibly frustrating. Thank you for your patience in helping us diagnose this problem.

Hi Josh130993,

Due to the short runway we have to ship Visual Studio 2010 RTM, we're resolving this issue as not repro. If you provide us with the logs, then we will reactivate and continue to investigate.

Thanks for using Visual Studio 2010!!

Hello,
Based on the information in the provided logs, there have been a few failed file download verifications when Visual C# Express was installed from the web.

Please try downloading the complete ISO from http://www.microsoft.com/express/Downloads/#2010-All, mount it as virtual drive. Then execute Visual C# setup from the ISO media and select an option to remove the product. Once the Visual C# has been uninstalled, please try installing it again from the ISO media.

Thank you,
Visual Studio Setup team.

Thanks for reporting the issue.
Could you please upload a setup log file to help us investigate the issue?
You can get the log files with the following steps:
1) Download collect.exe from the link below. http://go.microsoft.com/?LinkId=8967043
2) You may choose to save the tool for later use, or to run directly.
3) The utility creates a compressed cabinet of all the VS and .NET logs to %TEMP%\vslogs.cab.

You can get more details about how to get the log files here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/heaths/archive/2009/05/22/updated-log-collection-utility-available-for-visual-studio-2010-and-net-4-0-beta-1.aspx

Thank you,
Visual Studio Product Team.
