Is there an ETA from MSFT when SSIS projects will be supported in VS 2010?

This is by design. Visual Studio 2010 can’t be used to open SSIS Projects.
SQL Server 2008 does not use the Visual Studio 2010 Shell; it installs the Visual Studio 2008 shell for development of BI projects, including SSIS.

In order to open SSIS projects or packages you need to have SQL Server BIDS installed.

Not great, but you can check in the root folder and subsequent files for backup and restore purposes.
