Description

When I create a new winform project in a solution, add it to a solution folder, then I add a user control to the project build it, next drag the custom control form toolbox into the mainform and in the reference list, an assembly with the same name of the project appears.
But if the project is not in a solution folder, not extra assembly appears.

Allow us to correct the suggested workaround: To workaround the issue you can try removing the assembly reference manually.

Thank you for reporting this issue. Customer feedback is a critical part of a successful, impactful software product. Unfortunately another part is the reality of schedules and the need to prioritize investments according to the objectives of the product. We have evaluated the issue that you have reported and at this point in the product's lifecycle, it does not meet the criteria to be addressed. This evaluation is carefully done and considers many aspects including the cost of the fix, implications of the change, and the number of reported instances of the issue.

To workaround the issue you can try adding the assembly reference manually.

Many customers have found it useful to discuss issues like this in the forums (http://www.microsoft.com/communities/forums/default.mspx) where Microsoft and other members of the community can recommend ways of achieving the behavior you are interested in.

Thank you,
The Windows Forms Product Team

I joined File containing a Visual Studio 2010 project reproducing the issue in order to help you to reproduce this problem.
This project was only created with VS2010, with no migration and no external dependency and all visual studio extension disabled.

We waste a lot of time trying to fix this issue for our projects, we hope other team will not suffer of this problem.

Thanks.

Thank you for your feedback.

Unfortunately, we were unable to reproduce the bug with the scenario and steps provided.

1. Create a new winform project in a solution, add it to a solution folder.
2. I add a user control to the project build project.
3. Next drag the custom control form toolbox into the mainform.

If this issue still reproduces at your end, we would like to investigate it again. Please provide the exact steps/actions to reproduce the problem or a project and we will re-investigate.

Thanks,
Windows Forms Product Team
