Error installing Windows Update KB2455033 by mholza

This issue has been addressed by the Microsoft Security Bulletin MS11-025. To download the update please go to http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=26351 and follow the install instructions on the page.

Installing on Win7 Ultimate 32-bit and also getting this 643 error. I'm waiting for an official fix and won't be trying them workarounds...

Not fixed yet apparently. Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 x64, Visual Studio 2010 without Windows SDK 7.1. Both windows update and the direct download of KB2455033 failed as with the post by shunkarx on 21-APR-2011 01:37.

Installing KB25195277 first and then KB2455033 did not resolve my problem. Install has been completed on product (Microsoft Visual C++ 2010) but it has failed for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate. I have Windows 7 x86 installed and still i am getting the error below:

KB2455033 failed to install several times due to C++ compiler issues.

By installing KB25195277 first and then installing KB2455033, both succeeded.

Just to add a little to the post by AySz88. First I think the reference was meant to be to https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/660584/ which is about a missing ammintrin.h problem.

I thought I had fixed it with the KB25195277 workaround - it allowed KB2455033 to install - but then I had the missing ammintrin.h issue.

I think the solution is in the blog post at http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vcblog/archive/2011/03/31/10148110.aspx.

It seems that the first thing to do is install SDK 7.1 - I had done that.

It seems that KB2455033 will not install without KB25195277.

KB25195277 installs, but breaks VS2010 with the ammintrin.h issue unless VS2010 SP1 has been installed.

If you have KB2455033 installed when you run the SP1 update, it seems to be removed.

You can successfully run KB25195277 again after installing SP1 - I think that may have no effect if you had run it previously.

Once you have SP1 installed, Windows Update does not try to install KB2455033. If you try to install KB2455033 from the downloaded version, it fails very early. I guess this is because it is trying to put on older dll versions than were installed by SP1, but there are no nice explanations in the log.

Workaround 'Posted by msbhvn on 4/13/2011 at 10:41 PM ' solved the problem for me.

I can verify that msbhvn's workaround worked for me.

Be careful about the KB25195277 workaround - it indeed allowed me to install KB2455033, but then that also triggered this bug: https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/660653/

The manual install workaround given by narbeho results in missing features and a dialog looking for vc_stdx86.msi and suggest looking for it in the Visual Studio install disks... The only .msi on my distribution is vs_setup.msi

I have attached the Installation logs (Microsoft Only). Running Windows 2008 R2 DataCenter SP1 with current patches.

KB2455033 continually failing on my Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1 HyperV VM
