VS 2010 C++ builds are generating this error in my production environment:
c:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VC\atlmfc\include\atltransactionmanager.h(262): error C3861: 'AtlLoadSystemLibraryUsingFullPath': identifier not found

Developers in other forums are recently reporting the same exact error.

Perform a build of my production project after the latest VS 2010 updates via Windows updates.

Expected results

No build errors for MS VS 2010 "identifiers not found"
For this error, the method "AtlLoadSystemLibraryUsingFullPath(...)" from AtlTransactionManager.h is not being declared anywhere on my machine thus the error.

Suggestions Please!

I found a solution, see work-arounds.

I have the same problem. AtlLoadSystemLibraryUsingFullPath is not present in atlcore.h, but it is called in atltransactionmanager.h.

Might be due to an incomplete security update. AtlLoadSystemLibraryUsingFullPath should be used in order to stop binary planting (exploiting dll loading).

Greetings. Following windows updates that were applied to my x64 machine last night, it appears that my atltransactionmanager.h was replaced with a version that on line 262 contains:
HMODULE hKTM32 = AtlLoadSystemLibraryUsingFullPath(L"ktmw32.dll");

That function is not defined in atlcore.h and now my c++ projects will not compile.

If I open the previous version of this file, on line 262 I see:
HMODULE hKTM32 = LoadLibraryW(L"ktmw32.dll");

Please fix this update with some haste.

Here is more detail on the problem:

On a Win7 32 bit system C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VC\atlmfc\include\atlcore.h is dated 2010-12-21 and contains the required definition.
On a Win7 64 bit system C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VC\atlmfc\include\atlcore.h is dated 2011-02-10 and lacks the required definition.

Now please go and fix the update that probably caused many man-hours to be wasted all over the world.

Unfortunately, I neither have VS2008 installed nor a atlcore.h from another machine. Hence, the two workarounds offered didn't help. I assume, the error could be related to a windows update since my project code had not changed before it was compiled to debug a procedure and the error occured.

Hi,

I am experiencing the same problem when porting a 2003 solution to VS 2010 C++.
It is a small dialog based app with a few source files so I thought a quick work-around could be to generate a new dialog based solution with the 2010 wizard and then move the source code from the old project to the new wizard generated 2010 project.
I was quite surprised to find out that the unmodified wizard generated dialog based app have the exact same problem!

Could you please provide us with the build log? You can get them easily by going to Tools/Options, Projects/Solutions, Build/Run, and setting the MSBuild verbosity to "Diagnostic" in both dropdowns. Then, just copy/paste from the Output Window in the IDE.

For command line, you can pass in "/v:diag" switch to MSBuild.EXE and it will produce a diagnostic-level log.

I am experiencing the same issue on Windows XP Professional after latest runtime updates. However on Windows7 and Vista this does not occur show.

Because of the impact this error had on the on-going development effort our staff proceeded with un-installing VS 2010 then re-installing it as a work-around. It is currently working as it was prior to the reported error. Because of our effort proceeded your request for diagnostic data, I am not able to provide the details requested. Maybe another developer(s) could provide this information if possible. I would like to know which update to avoid and/or what exactly caused the error.

I too am getting this. It looks like VS2010 is missing a .h file in its build where the "AtlLoadSystemLibraryUsingFullPath" is not identified. I am porting older VS2008 COM object code which is getting this error.

Anything that has to do with the include file atltransactionmanager.h when it gets to this function errors out.

My errors go away when I change the projects properties platform toolset to v90 instead of v100. However this is using VS2008's platform instead of using the latest. At least I am back to being productive again.

My suggestion: Uninstall the Visual Studio 2010 Updates.

KB2455033 caused the problem at my PC. KB2455033 was officially replaced by KB2542054.

I was able to work around this by replace the file ...

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VC\atlmfc\include\atlcore.h

with a version from another machine.

In this the file funtion AtlLoadSystemLibraryUsingFullPath a few other details were different.

Not a long term one but...

Project Properties -> Configuration Properties -> Platform Toolset --> Change to v90. Rebuild
