This bug is fixed as part of Visual Studio 2012 Update 2. A CTP version of this update is available here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2797912.

Was the fix for this bug part of KB2781514? Or will it be part of another update?

Hi Jason, we have fixed the bug and it should be released along with the next Visual Studio update.

We tried to get it included in the Visual Studio 2012 Update 1 (http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/eng/downloads#d-visual-studio-2012-update) but we were not able to get the fix ready in time.

Jason, if you need to get a hotfix before that please email me and we can investigate the options. My email is sayedha@microsoft.com

Thanks,

Thanks for the update. Is there any scope for a hot fix because we are still using VS2010 as a result of this problem?

Hi!

Thank you again for submitting your feedback. We have found the root of this issue and a fix will be considered for the next release of the product.

Ahh - I just got a message back saying that it failed to upload the attachment because of a network connection or because I don't own the feedback item. I just used ID 764454 is that right? Is there another way for me to get these log files across to you?
Posted by jason_hill on 10/18/2012 at 4:46 PM
I used the Report a Bug feature again and appended it to this feedback item. Can you please confirm if you received the trace this time? It appeared to attach a 94MB file to the submission.

Hello again,

I don't see your 2nd report. Please give us a dump file so that we can conduct further research.
Posted by jason_hill on 10/15/2012 at 7:39 PM
I have re-opened this item. Can you please confirm whether you got the 2nd feedback report (which was just appended to this feedback ID)?
Posted by jason_hill on 10/8/2012 at 4:11 AM
No - don't close this one. I submitted a 2nd bug report via the VS submission tool to this same feedback ID. If that hasn't come through, I can try submitting it again.
Posted by Microsoft on 10/4/2012 at 6:42 PM
Oh, we will close the bug. What's the feedback id of the 2nd bug report?
Posted by jason_hill on 10/3/2012 at 8:11 PM
I did with the 2nd bug report - did it not come through?
Posted by Microsoft on 10/3/2012 at 6:49 PM
Hello again,

Please try to get the dump file with the feedback tool.
Posted by jason_hill on 10/3/2012 at 5:15 PM
I have just submitted 2 bug reports. I selected Hang for the first one but that obviously wasn't the right type for this issue so re-submitted using Performance.

Thanks for your feedback.

Could you please give us a dump file and call stack so that we can conduct further research?

Visual Studio now has an extension called Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Feedback Tool, available on the VS gallery(http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/f8a5aac8-0418-4f88-9d34-bdbe2c4cfe72).

The extension allows you to
1. upload files,
2. collect trace and dump files
3. collect steps while you're repro'ing the issue, as well as
4. SQM logs about VS extensions installed
5. System details (in DxDiag output)

More information on how to use the tool to provide feedback is published here(https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/content/content.aspx?ContentID=26698).

Please submit this information to us within 4 business days. We look forward to hearing from you with this information.

We have tried to create a demo project with the same markup as the page that is causing the problems but the same hang is not occurring in the sample project. It must be a combination of other things in the real project other than just the markup itself.

Is there something that we are able to do at this end to further diagnose the problem?
