Description

Whenever I open up the XAML designer (by double clicking on a xaml file), I get an exception in the visual designer half of the split screen (the xml code half seems to be running ok, but without any autocomplete.)

the error I see in the designer page is:
System.Exception

this has happened from the very first time I installed VS2012. I tried repairing the instalation (from the install/uninstall menu), and then I actually uninstalled and reinstalled Visual Studio to no success.

0. since then I had to reinstall the whole operating system together with VS2012, so I can't reproduce the behaviour any more. but, regarding your questions:

1. for me, the app ran well both on local and remote machines - the problem was with the designer component of VS2012
2. I no longer have access to the logs as the machine was reinstalled.

Thank you for your feedback. We looked at this issue and we need some more information to fully understand what's happening here. Specifically:
1. When you hit F5 are you successfully able to deploy and run the application?
2. When the designer crashes is there any information in the windows event log? (Press Win+x and then choose "Event viewer" from the menu, then look under application events)

You can get in touch with me directly via email at amodg AT Microsoft dot com

Same problem here. it was working one minute and then the next I get that error on all of my xaml pages in design view. Very frustrating especially since I just ran the program, stopped it, walked away, came back and voila... it no longer works.

I have as of this date the latest Windows 8 Enterprise & Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate
