Hi all,

When installing the update Visual Studio 2012 Update 1, it finishes after 10 minutes of showing the splash screen with no more information.
What I have:
Windows 8 RTM
VS 2010 Ultimate
VS 2012 Premium

I ran the installer with the /log option and got the following information:

Run the installer as Administrator.

The application crashes and the update is not installed.

I get the the exact same error (see log file below).

My system configuration:

• Windows 8 Professional RTM (MSDN) - 64-bit
• Microsoft Office 2013 Professional RTM (MSDN) - 32-bit
• Microsoft Visual Studio Premium 2012 (MSDN)

Other uptade. I tried to unninstall VS 2012 and it also freezes in the splash screen and will not unninstall the product. If someone knows at least a manual procedure to unninstall VS 2012, would be appreaciated.

Thanks for reporting the issue. In order to fix the issue, we must first reproduce the issue in our labs. We are unable to reproduce the issue with the steps you provided.

It may help if you provide us with a setup log file.

You can get the log files with the following steps:
1) Download collect.exe from the link below. <http://go.microsoft.com/?LinkId=8967043>
2) You may choose to save the tool for later use, or to run directly.
3) The utility creates a compressed cabinet of all the VS and .NET logs to %TEMP%\vslogs.cab.
