The Popup class supports a context menu "Expand Popup" in order to edit the Popup in the WPF Designer. While this normally works fine, when the Popup is part of a Template it appears to be not expandable.

Note that this bug exists in Blend for VS 2012 (Preview), too.

1. Open this XAML code in Visual Studio:

2. In the "Document Outline" select the Popup named "This_works", right-click and check "Expand Popup"

3. The Popup is shown and you can read the text "Text in Popup"

4. In the "Document Outline" select the DataGridTemplateColumn, right-click and choose Edit Column Templates -> Edit Cell Editing Template -> Edit Current.

5. The Designer shows the template and you can read "Text in Template".

6. In the "Document Outline" select the Popup named "This_fails", right-click and check "Expand Popup"

7. The Popup is not shown.

Hi Harry-vB,

Thank you very much for your feedback. Unfortunately, we will be unable to fix this bug at the current time. To work on pop-ups in these contexts (the cell editing template) you could copy the contents out to another location and work on them there before copying the content back.
