I have used all the main microsoft tools since VB3. I am now looking at developing a new app in Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows 8. I have a new Windows 8 laptop and have just installed Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows 8. I cannot get started is it is always crashing.

Visual Studio/Team Foundation Server/.NET Framework Tooling Version

Visual Studio 2012

Steps to reproduce

I am following this tutorial to the letter:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/hh986965.aspx
When I get to the section "To replace MainPage in the blank app", at step 7 (creating the new MainPage) I get "Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2012 has stopped working" In fact, even if I just go to Help / Report a bug, I get the same. I accessed "report a bug" by manually copying the url visible in the top left of the screen. I have rebooted, repaired the installation, rebooted again, and recreated a new hello world project but none of this has helped.

Hi, sorry, I did not see your responses sooner.

It's very strange, I gave up on that day the problem was occurring, and tried again the next day. The problem is no longer happening. I have now tried many sample projects and everything seems to be working fine. It has for the moment completely gone away. If it happens again I will get a dmp file.

Thanks, Ian
