I cannot connect to my TFS even if i can from the web.Just as i click Team->Connect to Team Foundation Server a dialog comes up saying Connect to Team Foundation Server stopped working.

The key visual studio is trying to access is "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main", but it's throwing SecurityException, check that node and make sure you have full access to it.

Trying running procmon (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx) and monitor the registry, see if there is any denied access when you are trying to connect to TFS.

The problem occurs even if do Right click and Run as Administrator
is there something i can do from registry editor?

This is a registry security permission. Make sure the user running Visual Studio is a standard or an admin user. Thanks.
