Visual Studio 2010 ignores other monospaced fonts (seems to be primarily bitmapped TrueType fonts).
Details (expand)

Visual Studio/Team Foundation Server/.NET Framework Tooling Version

Visual Studio 2012

Steps to reproduce

1. Download a bitmapped TrueType font. Examples that have produced this behavior include:

* Any of the Proggy programming fonts at http://www.proggyfonts.com/index.php?menu=download In particular Proggy Clean, Square and Tiny have been tested.
* ProFontWin (available at http://www.tobiasjung.net/download.php?file=ProFontWinTweaked.zip)

2. Install the font.
3. Try to set the font as the default (using ProggySquareTT as an example):
Tools>Options>Environment>Fonts and Colors
Show settings for: Text Editor
Font: ProggySquareTT
Size: 12
<OK>
