In TFS2012 there is a new feature in the WorkItems; a sub-tab that shows the discussions in the history tab, called 'Discussion Only'. This is a great feature that makes the history tab useful for discussions and to be able to filter out automated and manual field changes in the workitem.
However, it still shows changes in the workitem that should not be there. For instance, changes when Team Build associates the workitem to the build in the Integration Build field, and also when users are linking and associating workitems to a changeset.
I think the 'Discussion Only' sub-tab should only show manual comments that are entered in the History tab. Otherwise, this sub-tab will not be that useful.
For instance, if we have build that are only partially succeeded, the Integration Build field will continue to change until we have a fully successful build. If we have many partially successful build, the 'Discussion Only' sub-tab will be cluttered with this type of information, making it useless.

Thanks for your feedback. I agree with you that the ultimate experience would be to only see the relevant comments. The control is not a true discussion service, and it - as you experienced - only filters out the comments. I am sorry to hear that it isn't as useful. We are working to improve in this area and you can expect in the near future announcements in this area.

Please comment why you think this is a good design.

If this is how it should work, I have a suggestion that you change the title to "Relevant Changes" or somthing like that, because it's not discussion only.
