I have a task which is in progress in my current sprint- it correctly appears in my task board as 'in progress'

I realised there was another piece of work to complete as part of my task, so I opened the task and created a child task, set it to my current sprint and saved it.

My new task has appeared in the 'to do' section of the task board, however my original task has disappeared completely from the task board.

If I open up the new task which correctly appeared in my todo list, and open the linked work item, i can see that it is correctly set to the current sprint, that it in progress, and that hte only thing that has changed is that there is now a linked child task item.

Additionally, if i remove the link between the two workitems, both work items appear in the task board as expected

I believe that this is a bug, where tasks with sub tasks cannot be displayed on the task board

Thanks Tom,

This was a design decision we made. Since the board is not very good at visualizing trees, and the board is about work you are executing on, we currently only display the "leaf node" tasks on the board.

This appears to work for most customers. I'm closing the bug as by design. if you feel strongly about this, and want to reopen the bug, feel free to do that.
