Hi oVan,

You can get detailed steps about how to get the dump file at http://blogs.msdn.com/debugger/archive/2009/12/30/what-is-a-dump-and-how-do-i-create-one.aspx.

************************************************************
Please zip the file and use "FeedbackID-785605" as prefix of the file name.

************************************************************
You can use the following workspace to upload the file:
https://sftus.one.microsoft.com/choosetransfer.aspx?key=ae115d07-6f06-43f9-b73e-aa3e6598b94f
Password: 58oVCW*+@Q02Q

Thanks for your efforts and we look forward to hearing from you.

The feedback tool is unable to capture/send the dump file when VS2012.2 hangs. Any other solution?

Hi ovan2,

If you collect a dump file (called MiniDump.zip) with the feedback tool, you can find it from "{SystemDrive}:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Local\VSFeedbackTool\Feedbacks\{ID}” directory.

If not, please refer to the following steps to collect a dump file.

1. Start Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Feedback Tool
2. Select "Add to an existing feedback"
3. Select type: Hang
4. Record a repro: When the dialog box appears, select the running Visual Studio instance that hanged. VSFT collects a dump file regarding the hang, called MiniDump.zip, and attaches to your bug report.
5. Submit

For more detail, please refer to https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/content/content.aspx?ContentID=26698

Thanks,

Tried the VS Feedback tool several times. It errors out on uploading the attachments. I can't see if you received anything.

Thanks for your feedback. In order to efficiently investigate and reproduce this issue, we are requesting additional information outlined below.

Could you please give us a dump file so that we can conduct further research?

Visual Studio now has an extension called Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Feedback Tool, available on the VS gallery(http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/f8a5aac8-0418-4f88-9d34-bdbe2c4cfe72).

The extension allows you to
1. upload files,
2. collect trace and dump files
3. collect steps while you're repro'ing the issue, as well as
4. SQM logs about VS extensions installed
5. System details (in DxDiag output)

Please submit this information to us within 4 business days. We look forward to hearing from you with this information.
