Description

I have created a new solution with a Microsoft Office Excel 2010 Workbook project (C#). The project works fine and I am able to build run and debug the assembly without any issues. After I have saved and closed the solution, the project will no longer load properly when trying to reopen the solution.

The error claims that the project is unsupported:
"Unsupported
This version of Visual Studio does not have the following project types installed or does not support them. You can still open these projects in the version of Visual Studio in which they were originally created.
     - ExcelWorkbook1, "C:\Bug\ExcelWorkbookProject1\ExcelWorkbook1.csproj"

No changes required
These projects can be opened in this version of Visual Studio without changing them. They will continue to open in Visual Studio 2010 SP1 and in this version of Visual Studio.
     - ExcelWorkbook1, "C:\Bug\ExcelWorkbook1.sln"

Further, in the upgrade report, it states that I do not have the correct version of Office installed, which is inaccurate because the project was created just a few minutes prior on the same machine, with no changes.

Mr. Zlatkovsky,
Thank you for the reply. After initially experiencing this issue, I started to notice more problems when working with Office project templates. For example, I could not add a second Excel Document project to a solution which already contained an office project. Creating new Office Excel document templates was also not working properly.
I started to receive an error saying that the VSTO Runtime could not be repaired or located.
Finally, what I did was a full installation repair of Microsoft Office 2010, as well as Visual Studio 2012 Update 2.
This has seemed to resolve each of these issues for the moment.
Although I am not sure what caused the issue, or how I can prevent it in the future, I am no longer experiencing the problems listed in this bug report.
Thank you

Hi Mark,

Thank you for reporting this issue. We have had several testers attempt to reproduce this issue, but with no luck -- we don't seem to get the behavior that you're describing.

Have you seen this repro on any other computer? This is the first report we've had of this issue, and, since we're unable to repro it in-house, it's hard to gauge what might be the root cause. If you're able to repro this on another computer, please let us know, so we can try to figure out the root cause.

Apologies for the inconvenience,

~ Michael Zlatkovsky | Program Manager, Visual Studio Tools for Office & Apps for Office
