Description

UPDATE: 06/18/2013 - This problem has been solved. Refer to my post in the Workarounds section. I have also included updated screenshots.
---------------------------
Sometime after installing Visual Studio 2012 Update 1 / Update 2, and when using MS Help Viewer 2.0 since then, I get the following message in the status bar of the Viewer application:

"No books returned from http://services.mtps.microsoft.com/ServiceAPI/catalogs/VisualStudio11/en-US
"
The Windows Registry entries seem to be correct on a Win64 machine, based on other feedback.

Greetings B. Jenkins

Thank you for taking the time to let us know the Help book service was down, and your patience while this issue was being addressed. On Monday the online service experienced a disruption which, as you have seen, affected the Help book service. That problem was fixed yesterday morning. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Please continue to let us know if you experience any Help viewer issues. Feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Malcolm Dickson

exact same thing happened to me. I'm watching it in fiddler and the only error I see is a 404 message when it tries to go to services.mtps.microsoft.com/ServiceAPI/content/vstudio/dd831853/en-us;vs.110/primary/mtps.offline HTTP/1.1

I fixed the problem. It seemed to have been making sure the registry locations were correct for the LocationPath and the ContentSource. So, close the MS Help Viewer 2.0 application. Open "RegEdit.exe" and verify the LocationPath and ContentSource folders are correct.

Open MS Help Viewer 2.0 (Run As Adminsitrator - just to be on the safe side) and when you click on the "Manage Content" tab, or by pressing CTRL-O (the CTRL button plus the letter O key), then click the "Online" radio button option.

See attached screenshots. Also, the following URLs helped solve the problem, so it appears a workaround / fix has already been posted for this particular issue.
