When opening html and htm pages in Visual Studio 2013 the buttons at the bottom for switching between Design, Split and Source view are missing. They appear if you rename the file to .aspx but vanish again when you rename it back to .htm or .html.

Thanks for the feedback. Here's how to enable the designer for static HTML files in Visual Studio 2013: http://madskristensen.net/post/open-static-html-files-in-the-visual-studio-2013-designer

Thanks again!

Right-click the html file in Solution Explorer, select “Open With”, then select “HTML (Web Forms) Editor” and press “OK”.
